Investment Challenge: A medium-sized Pension Fund had retained multiple investment managers to invest the Fund's assets and provide proper asset allocation and performance reports for their defined benefit plan. Without a trained consultant, the Fund experienced a heavy correlation of similar funds with poor investment diversification. Instead of servicing the needs of the client, competing managers charged excessive service fees while providing substandard investment management and administration.
MADISON Solution: Our training and non-proprietary status enabled us to conduct an an objective manager search that yielded quality money managers capable of investing the client's assets in more than one investment discipline. By streamlining the management structure, we were able to achieve a reduction of the fund's fees, enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness. In addition, we implemented simplified performance reporting and created a comprehensive policy statement while maintaining appropriate investment diversification.
